Urban Footprint celebrates the human ingenuity and exciting innovations that makes Santa Monica, California a healthier, more sustainable place in which to live. Hosted by writer and producer Jennifer Still and CityTV sports anchor, Mark Istook. Urban Footprint sets out to celebrate each Santa Monica’s vitality rather than condemn its consumerism. As fuel and real estate prices soar and cities become more and more crowded, the need for alternative innovation in our technology and city planning touches all our daily lives. So the concept of sustainability – meeting today’s needs while preserving our quality of life for future generations – is a growing trend. Building green, conserving energy and creating healthy live / work / play spaces isn’t just for tree-hugging hippies anymore! It makes good economic sense.
A city’s “footprint” is the amount of land needed to provide for its needs and absorb its waste. In Urban Footprint, we showcase how Santa Monica is attempting to decrease their “footprint” and improve urban quality of life through anything from ingenious run-off water recycling plants to clever use of simple meditative parks and green space.Produced in cooperation with CityTV of Santa Monica, Urban Footprint was created as part of Santa Monica’s 10-Fest Celebration, marking the tenth anniversary of their sustainability plan.
